Microsoft MapPoint 2010

Imported City-State-Zip data without Longitude and Latitude.  All questionable locations (multiple possible locations) were skipped.  Small dot was selected instead of bulky pushpin.

Microsoft Streets & Trips 2009

Imported City-State-Zip data without Longitude and Latitude.  All questionable locations (multiple possible locations) were skipped.  Dot was selected over all other pushpins.

With the new Streets & Trips 2010 version, the same pushpins as MapPoint can be used which makes the map look nicer.

Mapping Comparisons

• GPX Imports

  • MapPoint - Good long names

  • DeLorme - Short names, only 10 characters.

  • Streets 2009 - Has No GPX Import, but does import the same Excel Files.

  • Streets 2010 - Now has GPX Import/Export and same pushpins.

   

• Point to Point Routing

  • MapPoint - Real good Point to Point Routing.  Easy to manipulate. Easy to add and remove stops.  Easy to add a set of pins as stops and re-route.  Good Route Optimization.  Good printed instructions, with or without maps.

  • Streets - Same as MapPoint, and with the Streets 2010, it includes the same pushpins and GPX Import capabilities.

  • DeLorme - Not quick and easy. Click on a pushpin and it uses where you click not the pushpin which could be way off if you were zoomed out.  Close is not close enough.

  • MapPoint - Good capabilities for VBA.

  • DeLorme - None

  • Streets - None
